Series History: The American Eagle series to investment coins is issued by the United States Mint. These coins began to be issued in 1986 in response to the growing interest of investors in bullion coins backed by precious metals. The American Eagle issue program includes gold, silver, platinum and palladium coins, each with unique features and designs.
The American Eagle gold coin is one of the most popular gold coins in the world. The coin is minted from an alloy with a gold content of 91.67%, which corresponds to 22 karats. - Obverse: The obverse side of the coin depicts Lady Liberty holding a torch in one hand and an olive branch in the other, symbolizing peace and freedom. Liberty is depicted in a flowing gown, walking toward the morning sun, with branches of laurel and oak. - Reverse: An eagle with outspread wings, holding an olive branch and shield in its beak - this design was designed by John Mercanti until 2021.
